Stucco frieze
Moho baukunst puts a special emphasis on embedding sculptural elements of art within architecture. The art of construction embodies the richness of life. Adornment is a basic human need. Man dresses himself in ornaments when working, when celebrating — like a companion for life. Built space surrounds him and shelters him. Like a second skin it faces him.
If man’s sensory experience is not reflected by the space itself, he will feel estranged and unsettled — and so he adorns himself. Ornamentation is applied to the points of intersection between tectonic elements. This accentuates the tectonic impact at this point, at the same time veiling it with a new narrative. In 2013, ceiling friezes were conceived for the entrance halls of two residential buildings on Wallstrasse in collaboration with the architect Tobias Nöfer and the property developer Kondor Wessels. A flowing allover texture encloses a quadrangle. Shapes remain ambiguous, firing the viewer‘s imagination.
